I've had a quick look at http://www.old-maps.co.uk but haven't located the farm as yet. I'll keep investigating when I have a chance, but you may want to see if you can find it on there in the meantime.
Hi. I have an ancestor who was a farmer of 4 acres at Crowthorne New Farm circa 1881. I would really like to know exactly where this was as I cannot find any ref to it on the web. I know from the census page that it was within the civil parish of Wokingham and the ecclesiastical parish of San (st.) Sebastians, so suspect it would be in the area of 'Wokingham Without'. Other place names on the census page are 'White Lodge', 'Starwalk Ride' and 'Near Heathlands'. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm afraid I don't give talks about Crowthorne, though the library might be able to put you in touch with someone who could help.

The best place to look for maps that I know of would be http://www.old-maps.co.uk although this again might be something that the library service might be better able to advise on. I don't know whether there might be anything in the Berkshire archives in Reading.

Regards

Great postcard. That is Mr Money walking towards the camera (right) with his butcher's van outside. I was a butcher's boy for Mr and Mrs Money who lived in Pinehill Road. I would cycle around the village on a bike with a large whicker basked on the front. I did it from 1962-65. The shop with the long awning next to Money's was Longs clothing and haberdashery store. All my clothes, including my Broadmoor and Edgbarrow school uniforms were purchased there. Those were the days!
