Wellington College Station

Wellington College Station

“Wellington College Station”

This card is rather misleadingly labelled – the picture isn’t the station at all, but the shops further up Dukes Ride.

As is documented in various places, the station was originally built to serve Wellington College. It remained as Wellington College for Crowthorne until the late 1920s (when it was renamed Crowthorne). The old sign was left in placeĀ  until WWII, when the sign was removed so that enemy parachutists wouldn’t know where they were.
